DUBAI, 25th January, 2020 (WAM) — Participants in a panel discussion during the Dubai International Project Management Forum affirmed that the UAE’s wise leadership has placed concern for people, community development, and the enhancement of the quality of life for citizens and those who live on its land, at the forefront of its priorities.

The session was attended by Her Excellency Hessa bint Issa Bu Hamid, Minister of Community Development, His Excellency Ahmed Abdul Karim Julfar, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, and His Excellency Salama Al Amimi, Director General of the Authority for Community Contributions “Ma’an” in Abu Dhabi, and it was presented by the media, Mays Al Harbi.

Participants in the session pointed out that the UAE, during the few years that have passed since the establishment of the federation, was able to achieve advanced numbers in global indicators, all of which contribute to enhancing the quality of life in terms of security, safety, satisfaction, happiness, and the provision of services. It also seeks to develop appropriate solutions to the challenges it faces in order to reach number one. globally as the best country.

During the special session discussing the theme of “Society Development and Enhancement of Quality of Life”, they pointed out that the policies, legislation and strategies adopted by the UAE government are all aimed at enhancing the quality of life according to a flexible, updated and comprehensive system that changes and develops continuously for the benefit of serving people and achieving prosperity on the land of the Emirates.

Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Bu Humaid said: “The UAE has put the development of individuals and the achievement of well-being for citizens and those who live on its land in mind, and that the human being is the main axis at the heart of government policies that the country has set since the establishment of the federation at the hands of the founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul.

She added that the UAE has achieved advanced achievements and numbers in global competitiveness indicators, as it topped the countries in achieving 156 global indicators and was among the top 10 countries that achieved 432 indicators related to enhancing the quality of life and community development.

Her Excellency said: “We have policies dedicated to the quality of life, and that there are 120 executive directors in the agencies and departments concerned with the quality of life, and that the policies and laws in this matter have become directed towards members of society in general, people of determination, senior citizens and target groups in particular, noting the important and vital role played by It involves members of society in general from the private sector, individuals and entities, and provides support and assistance to improve the quality of life for those who deserve it.

For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Abdul Karim Julfar, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, spoke about the most important elements of community development that the Community Development Authority focuses on and how does it affect the quality of life of individuals? And the contribution of all applied decisions and policies, whether developmental, economic or social, to the quality of life of individuals, stressing that community development is a general and comprehensive concept.

He stated that the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Government of Dubai has developed a methodology to assess the impact of policies on two main axes, the social axis, quality of life and the economic axis, and that the authority follows the methodology of the General Secretariat through an integrated research system that includes secondary studies such as reviewing record data and the results of program outputs and preliminary quantitative research such as the social survey it conducts. The Commission every two years, specialized surveys, preliminary qualitative studies, such as focus groups with segments of society, in-depth interviews with experts, in addition to brainstorming sessions.

For her part, Her Excellency Salama Al-Amimi touched on the existence of a close link between the quality of life and community development, and that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi does not only see the quality of life in developing infrastructure and economic development, but also believes that community development is the basis for the quality of life.

Al-Amimi pointed out that the Quality of Life Committee was formed in Abu Dhabi to follow up the indicators of quality of life in the emirate, and that the questionnaires conducted in this regard can inform the location of Abu Dhabi society compared to the leading countries in the field of community development.
