New Delhi: Provision for compensation in case of cancellation of journey due to reasons beyond the control of passengers. Domestic passengers will get a refund of 75 percent of the ticket price including taxes. For foreign travel, the amount will be refunded in three categories. The directive is from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The DGCA has amended the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) regarding facilities to be provided by airlines to passengers due to flight cancellations and flight delays. The new norms will come into effect from February 15. It was decided to amend the norms in the wake of complaints from air passengers.
For overseas journeys, flights flying 1,500 km or less receive 30% of the ticket price inclusive of taxes. Flights flying between 1,500 and 3,500 km will get 50% of the ticket price. Flights covering more than 3,500 km will receive 75% of the ticket inclusive of taxes.
