Logroo City Council begins work on a new pedestrian overpass on Javier Martínez Laorden street

LOGROO, 15 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Logroo City Council, through the Councilor for Sustainable Urban Development, has started work this morning for the creation of a new pedestrian overpass on Javier Martínez Laorden street. In addition, tomorrow, Friday, asphalt work will begin on Comandancia street.

Both interventions are part of the second section of the East-West cycling axis, which links Paseo del Espoln and the El Cubo neighborhood thanks to a safe cycling infrastructure to promote active and sustainable mobility and which responds to recurring requests that are reflected every year. in participatory budgets.

Thus, the works on the cycling axis are currently centered on Calle Comandancia. North Street will remain one-way, which will considerably improve pedestrian permeability as the pedestrian crossing will be reduced to one lane and all traffic coming from North Street will be diverted to Comandancia Street.

A lane will be added to this road for vehicles arriving from the Plaza Diversidad roundabout and for those leaving the car park, which is maintained, and a dock for private buses will be created.

From North Street to Comandancia, a two-way bike lane will be created to serve cyclists who may arrive from North Street. The sidewalk on this street will also be widened and new pedestrian overpasses will be created.

Work will continue in January in Diversity Square, in Marqus de Murrieta street and in the section between Avenida de Portugal, Mara Zambrano and Muro de la Mata.

This action, which promotes active and sustainable mobility, is being carried out thanks to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which has European financing through Next Generation funds thanks to the call from the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
