Satellite imagery shows an iceberg nearly the size of Greater London breaking off from the 150-metre-thick Brunt Ice Shelf in Antarctica.
The iceberg broke apart after years of natural cracking and eventually expanded and caused the iceberg to break free.
The British Antarctic Survey first detected this large rift since 2017 during the Antarctic summer.
