The head of the company, Dana Khosrovshahi, said at an event in Davos that Uber wants to create machines optimized for use in cities to transport passengers and also goods. The big goal is, of course, one – cost reduction. The head of the company points out that Uber does not need a machine with a high top speed or rapid acceleration. On the other hand, the car interior could be designed so that passengers can sit facing each other.
As is usually the case in such cases, it is not disclosed which automakers are involved in this project. Uber has been actively trying to electrify its fleet in recent years, and the company’s big goal is to make all the vehicles used by Uber fully electric in 2030. Already in North America, Uber drivers have the option of renting an electric car from Hertz, but this option will soon be introduced in Europe as well.
