Advent has come and the Christmas markets can open again without restrictions. But this year, traders have been hit by new worries: energy prices, inflation, and the threat of recession. Gühwein prices: The mulled wine price index provides answers

Every year examines the portal “Mobile Christmas Market” all German cities and municipalities and compares the prices for a normal cup of red mulled wine. This creates a so-called “Mulled wine price index” created. The index for 2022 was published just before the second advent. This shows that most Christmas markets have increased their prices. But in three markets the price was even reduced. Here is the cheapest mulled wine in Germany:

  • Dortmund
  • Hof

The mulled wine costs on average at these markets 3 Euro without deposit. The most expensive mulled wine is in Berlin, Hanover and Cologne where the drink costs 4.50 euros per cup.
