Volvo’s smallest electric crossover EX30 will debut in June

Volvo introduced its own at the end of last year electric flagship EX90, but at the presentation event it was indicated that a smaller, simpler and cheaper electric SUV is expected this year – it is officially known that it will be called EX30, but this car will experience its world premiere on June 15. This was revealed by Jim Rowan, chairman of Volvo’s board, in a conversation with the Australian media CarSales.

In an interview, he revealed that the typical Volvo buyer is much older than the automaker would like, but he hopes that a cheaper and smaller electric crossover could reverse that trend by attracting younger customers to Volvo.

Rowan describes the upcoming model as very safe, it will have a “decent range” and the car will be quite roomy, but smaller than the XC40. Although the new EX30 is more intended for younger people, the Volvo driver emphasizes that it will be a good car for anyone, especially people who don’t want to drive a big car every day and want to switch to something smaller. It will not be possible to own this car – Volvo has already announced that the EX30 will be offered, using a subscription model – the car will have to be subscribed for at least three months, but after that it can be canceled if the customer is not satisfied with it.

Although the minimum subscription period for the EX30 is three months, the Volvo driver is confident that customers will be satisfied and choose to keep the car for much longer. Volvo believes that the typical customer for this car will be an 18-19-year-old person who wants to own their first car. There is little technical information about the EX30 yet, but we can expect it closer to the launch date.
