The assault occurred on Monday January 23 in the middle of the morning. While leaving the semi-freedom center located in the Saint-Bruno district, in Grenoble, a 23-year-old young man suffered an attempted kidnapping. “He was gassed and beaten by three individualssays his lawyer Me Ronald Gallo. The attackers were put to flight by the witnesses, who shouted and alerted the police“.
The attackers left the scene in a Renault Mégane, spotted around 11:20 a.m. in the town of Bourgoin-Jallieu by a patrol. “The perpetrators then forced a toll gate before being lost at the Saint-Quentin-Fallavier toll“, added the departmental directorate of public security in its report, specifying that the judicial police had taken up the case.
After being treated at the hospital, the victim went to the police station to file a complaint. “That’s when my client learned he was going to be put back in jail.” denounces Me Gallo.
Sentenced to “a sentence of a few months“For drug trafficking, the young man benefited from an adjustment of sentence. Housed in the semi-freedom center, he had to go to work every day and respect strict exit times.
After the incident, however, the director of Varces prison decided to return him to prison, under thearticle D424-6 of the penitentiary code. This article states that in case of emergency “the head of the penitentiary establishment can proceed with the immediate reinstatement of the detained person“.
His victim status is withdrawn and he becomes a delinquent again.

Supposedly on the pretext of wanting to protect him, we decide to reincarcerate him when he has not committed any breach. His victim status is withdrawn and he becomes a delinquent again. It is an abuse of rights and we must denounce this behavior of the judicial institution“.
Contacted, Eric Vaillant, the public prosecutor of Grenoble, estimated that “the law had been respected“, and declined to comment further.
Following this reincarceration, the sentence enforcement judge has 10 days to rule on the possible withdrawal or revocation of the sentence adjustment measure. “During this period, I have no possible recourse“, regrets Me Ronald Gallo.
