Young man found dead after search operation

The man, who is in his late teens and from Nordmøre, was reported missing at 8pm on Sunday evening.

– We were contacted by relatives who were missing a boy in his late teens who had been at a party at Sveggen in Averøy municipality on Saturday evening, says the operations manager. Leif Arne Mork, in Møre and Romsdal police district to NRK.

A search operation was quickly launched. Crews from Norwegian Rescue Dogs, the Red Cross, Norwegian People’s Aid, a fire boat from Kristiansund and a SAR Queen helicopter were involved in the search for the young man.

– After a short time we decided to launch a search operation and around midnight we found the person we were looking for dead. He was found in the spring not far from where the party had been, says the operations leader.

He said that the police have started an investigation, but they think it was an accident.

– We are in the process of terminating on the spot, then there will be further investigation to try to clarify what may have happened, but the incident appears to be an accident.

Fireboats from Kristiansund and Redningsskøyta were included in the search.
