Pontevedra, the most affected province this Tuesday with floods in areas of Vigo and the overflow of the Tea river in Mondariz

The storm has lowered its intensity in the last hours in Galicia after having left hundreds of incidents both this Tuesday and Monday, with winds exceeding 140 km/h and heavy rains that caused hundreds of floods in different areas of the Community, especially in the provinces of A Corua and Pontevedra.
Thus, according to Meteogalicia data, the strongest winds during this day have been recorded in the Pontevedra municipality of Oia, where they have exceeded 100 kilometers per hour.
Regarding rainfall, Meteogalicia values reflect more than 70 liters per square meter in towns such as Fornelo de Montes, Oia or Baiona.
All in all, the situation is better than this past Monday, when the winds exceeded 140 kilometers per hour in O Penedo do Galo, in Viveiro (Lugo), and rains of 159.3 liters per square meter were recorded in Santa Comba. (To Corua).
PONTEVEDRA, THE MOST AFFECTED PROVINCE
This Tuesday, the province most affected by the heavy rainfall that has been experienced in Galicia has been that of Pontevedra, with a total of 82 incidents, as highlighted by 112 Galicia.
Specifically, in Vigo the Firefighters of the city of Oliva had to carry out an intervention after 06:30 a.m. in the vicinity of the Balados stadium to evacuate the people who were trapped in a public transport bus from the city that was I was hospitalized in a flooded area from which I could not get out.
In addition, in Mondariz the overflow of the Tea river has caused the flooding of some houses in the area. For this reason, the Ponteareas Fire Brigade had to go to one of the houses in the area, two stories high, since there was a person inside who, at first, could not get out.

In this context, the Xunta keeps the Galician Flood Risk Plan active for monitoring river levels due to the possibility of occasional overflows in the Dubra and Tambre rivers, in the province of A Corua.
As reported by 112 Galicia, according to information from Augas de Galicia, the Dubra-Tambre stations have already exceeded the established limits, so the filling of the channels is expected and the risk of flooding increases.
For this reason, the autonomous administration has recommended the implementation of the necessary self-protection measures and also the importance of the population increasing caution, especially when driving on roads or bridges that are located in the vicinity of these rivers, since a sudden rise could make the situation difficult and put the people involved at risk.
However, the mayor of Val do Dubra, José Manuel Varela, has informed Europa Press that during the early hours of this Tuesday “they had some overflow” of the Dubra riverbed, but that it did not cause flooding but dragging and roadblocks.
On the other hand, sources from the Local Police of Ames (A Corua), through which the Tambre river passes, have detailed that the situation on Tuesday’s day “is calm” and that on Monday “they have received a number of calls” for issues of tree branches but that “no flood was to be regretted”.
