Wout Weghorst felt not optimal in his debut match together Manchester United. The man from the Netherlands wanted to make up for it when he fought back Arsenal.
Man United got Wout Weghorst from Besiktas in this year’s winter transfer market. The 30-year-old striker immediately appeared as a starter when MU visited Crystal Palace headquarters, but in the match which ended in a 1-1 draw, he did not contribute to a goal.
Wout Weghorst was also only able to release one attempt and it didn’t lead to goal. He felt that his debut match was incomplete and wanted to pay for it when Man United visited Arsenal headquarters, Sunday (22/1/2023) at 23.30 WIB.
“I only trained once with the whole team before the game against Palace, so I know I’m not optimal,” Weghorst said as quoted from MU’s official website.
“I did my best at that time. There was a lot of room for me to improve, but I was satisfied with my performance at that time.”
MU currently sits in fourth place in the Premier League standings with 39 points. Arsenal are at the top of the standings with 47 points.
“Sunday’s game (vs Arsenal) is a big game for us. It’s an opportunity for us to close the gap on them,” Weghorst said.
“I’m ready to play in this match. I hope I can score my first goal as soon as possible,” he said.
