Today, Sunday, Acting President of Assiut University, Dr. Maha Ghanem, announced that Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, issued his decision to form the Regional Council for Mental Health in Assiut, headed by Dr. Wajih Abdel Nasser, Professor of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University.
And the President of Assiut University indicated that, according to the decision of the Minister of Health, the committee is also formed with the membership of the head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine at the university in his capacity, along with 9 other members from the Public Prosecution authorities, the Ministry of Solidarity, the Assiut Doctors Syndicate, the Directorate of Health Affairs in Assiut, representatives of civil societies and human rights, and a doctor. Sharia affiliated to the Ministry of Justice.
Ghanem added that the council’s scope of work is the governorates of Upper Egypt, in addition to the governorates of the Red Sea and the New Valley.
