A total of 3 suspected terrorists were arrested by the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police. The three were arrested in Jakarta and South Tangerang (Tangsel).
Karo Penmas Divhumas Polri Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan said the three terrorists had the initials AS, ARH and SN. The three terrorists were arrested on Friday (20/1) yesterday.
“Three suspects have been arrested terrorism crime,” Brigadier General Ramadhan told reporters, Friday (20/1/2023).
The suspected terrorist with the initials AS was arrested in North Jakarta (Jakut). While the terrorist suspect with the initials ARH was arrested in South Jakarta (Jaksel), and SN in Tangsel.
Police said the three suspected terrorists came from two different groups. Currently they are still being examined intensively.
Following are some facts about the arrest of 3 terrorists by Detachment 88 Police:
1. NII Network and Ex-FPI
The police stated that the suspected terrorist with the initials AS who was arrested in North Jakarta was part of the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) network.
While the arrest of the terrorist suspects with the initials ARH and SN is the result of the development of previous cases. Both are terrorist networks of social organizations (ormas) which have been disbanded and banned by the government, namely the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).
2. The Suspected Role of ARH and SN Terrorists
The police have included ARH and SN on the wanted list (DPO) since March 2022. The two wanted terrorists had made a bomb but were thwarted in 2021.
“Numbers 2 and 3 are DPO arrests in March 2021 for the FPI Condet group who planned to make bombs and would use them in acts of terror, but were successful in thwarting them in 2021,” said Ramadhan.
