8 a.m. news – War in Ukraine: Europe is struggling to reach an agreement to send a tank

Meeting yesterday in Ramstein, Germany, the European allies have not succeeded, for the time being, in agreeing on the delivery of heavy tanks, which kyiv is demanding. On the other hand, the Europeans have announced substantial new arms deliveries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted through a video.

“We can conclude that Ramstein somehow enhanced our ability to resist. Our partners will support Ukraine until victory. So yes, we have to keep fighting to get modern tanks. But every day we manage to demonstrate that these tanks are essential for us to winr. Of course, I want to thank all the participants of the Ramstein summit who are behind Ukraine,” the Ukrainian president said.

The pressure is on the shoulders of Germany, which must now give the green light. Lloyd Austin, US Secretary of Defense, indicated shortly after the Ramstein meeting that countries wishing to deliver their German-designed tanks must obtain approval from Berlin.
