Open days at the Saint-Étienne School of Art and Design

The Saint-Étienne School of Art and Design will open its doors on January 28, 1is february and 1is mars 2023.

School of creation under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, integrated into the Cité du design, the Higher School of Art and Design of Saint-Étienne (Esadse) is positioned among the best schools of art and design in France. It encourages dialogue and synergies between the two sectors to respond to major socio-economic changes.

Esadse invites future students and their parents to meet on Saturday January 28 all day as well as on Wednesdays 1is february and 1is March afternoon to visit the school and its workshops, discover its training offer in art and design, its novelties as well as the admission procedures and the specificities of the school. These Open Days will also be an opportunity to come and meet students and teachers in art and design as well as the administrative team of this establishment located in the heart of the creative district of the Cité du design.

Saint-Étienne School of Art and Design launches this year the first apprenticeship training for design students within a public establishment, and opens two new mentions of DNSEP Design: Digital creation et Graphics & pictures. The preparatory class and the DNSEP Design mention Public(s), open in 2021, should ramp up.

The Open Days of the Esadse will be punctuated by conferences led by Magali Coué, deputy director, Caroline d’Auria, director of studies and teachers of the school, as well as by the designer Eric Jourdan who has notably signed great classics at the high-end French furniture editor Ligne Roset, such as the Sommerset lamps, the Snowdonia sofa and bed which are no longer produced or more recently the Utopia furniture collection.

Visits will also be organized to discover the premises and the different centers (photo, video, digital), workshops, platforms where the work and projects of the students will be hung, the classrooms as well as the media library.

These open days will also concern the Cité du Design. This will be an opportunity to discover or rediscover the exhibition Bicycle(s), riding bicycles at the Platinum where are exhibited

This will be an opportunity to discover or rediscover the exhibition Bicycle(s), riding bicycles at the Platine where 70 bikes at the cutting edge of technology and design are exhibited, illustrating the revival of the cycle in Europe. Admission will be free after registration at the Esadse auditorium (to be used the same day or later).

It will also be possible to go the Design Hut where is presented the exhibition Helvetica by Aubane Gaillard, a former student of the school who graduated in 2021. In this project, the visitor composes his reading furniture from shapes borrowed from a great design classic, the Swiss police, Helvetica.

Finally, it will also be an opportunity to discover the CAMPUS PARTY#1 project, the approach and the first drafts of the proposals of the students and teachers of the Esadse within the framework of the redevelopment project of the district “Cité du design 2025”.

Wednesdays 1is February and 1is March 2023 afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Departure of visits: 3 p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
