Erabaru.net. A woman whose father recently died described how she and her husband stopped talking to each other after his husband refused to attend his father’s funeral.
Taking to Reddit, the grieving daughter explained that her husband didn’t want to go to the funeral because he was “worried” that people would notice that his wife looked taller than him.
“My father passed away 2 weeks ago. Before the funeral, my husband who has always had a problem with his height (he is short) asked if I would wear high heels. I said yes because those high heels were the only shoes I owned in black to match my outfit,” she wrote.
She said her husband tried to get her to wear a different pair of shoes but when he refused, he said he was not going to the funeral.
“I was shocked and I called him crazy for missing a funeral for such a reason but he seemed annoyed and told me I was crazy for refusing to compromise to make it work,” the wife continued.
They had a big fight and his family said that he was stubborn for not changing his shoes.
“Her family said I had to compromise if I really wanted her there,” he added.
People on Reddit were shocked by her husband’s attitude, with one person commenting: “He was more concerned about the appearance of him supporting you or showing respect to your father. He’s disgusting. This should be a real wake-up call for you. Take those high heels and go with them!”
Another said: “I personally can’t take back someone who can’t put their insecurities aside to support me in my darkest hour. No one at the funeral will pay attention to her husband! They will be too lost and grieved. He makes it all about himself as if everyone doesn’t already know he’s short.”
