When Microsoft announced Windows 11, it confirmed that it would continue to support Windows 10 until 2025, and while the operating system still has two years of support left, it appears that Microsoft is already planning ahead. Its phase-out has begun in due course. The company has now officially confirmed that the sale of Windows 10 licenses will stop at the end of this month.
The company posted an announcement on its Windows 10 Home, Pro, and Workstation pages that it will stop digital downloads of all versions of Windows 10 on January 31, 2023. “January 31, 2023 will be the last day of Windows,” the announcement states. Download 10 is for sale. Windows 10 will continue to be supported “with security updates that help protect your PC from viruses, spyware, and other malware until October 14, 2025.”
What does this mean for users?
Basically, the only thing it means to users is that they cannot purchase and download an official Windows 10 license from Microsoft, which means someone is looking to purchase a new copy of Windows 10 and install it on a device. This option is not possible. no longer available
However, it is important to stress that users can still purchase Windows 10 through third-party resellers and retailers. Meanwhile, Microsoft has already ended support for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
This means that Microsoft has stopped providing basic support such as security and fixing operating system problems. Note that Windows 8/8.1 PCs will continue to work, except they won’t receive any new features or security updates.
