As early as December last year, the Freiburg criminal police carried out numerous searches in the city and surrounding area in connection with organized drug trafficking.
The search warrants issued by the Freiburg district court at the request of the Freiburg public prosecutor were the result of lengthy, extensive investigative measures against a multi-headed drug dealer group. The group is accused of extensive international trade in various narcotics, sometimes in the high double-digit kilo range.
In the course of the investigation and the final search measures, almost 450 g of cocaine, approx. 16 kg of marijuana and around EUR 45,000 in cash, as well as high-quality jewelery and watches were confiscated.
The public prosecutor’s office applied for arrest warrants against five suspects identified as the main perpetrators, which were issued by the district court. Four of the suspects were arrested in connection with the search measures in December and, after being brought before a magistrate, were taken to various prisons.
Another suspect wanted with an arrest warrant has now been arrested in neighboring countries. He is now awaiting extradition.
Separate investigations were initiated against a total of 11 other persons involved in the crime.
