There are many, increasingly, the different modes of urban displacement and to be able to share the road with respect, visibility is essential. For this reason, during this week, from December 12 to 18, the Provincial Traffic Department (DGT) and the Ministry of Sustainability, Ecological Transition and Portavoca, through the General Directorate of Infrastructures of the Government of La Rioja, in collaboration with the Mobility Platform of La Rioja, promote a regional awareness campaign to improve the visibility of all users of urban public roads.
The Provincial Head of Traffic, Beatriz Ziga, the General Director of Infrastructures of the regional government, Vicente Urqua, and the representative of the La Rioja Mobility Platform, Ignacio Prieto, presented this morning the “Make yourself seen!” campaign.
For her part, the Provincial Head of Traffic explained that the objective of the campaign is to raise awareness of shared responsibility to improve safety in situations of low visibility, between sunset and sunrise, in tunnels, in fog or in rain. “With a simple gesture, such as the lights and the placement of the reflective vest, it is easier for pedestrians, cyclists and skate users to be seen and the accident rate is reduced”, she has insisted.
Likewise, the General Director of Infrastructures of the regional Government has specified that the public administrations are committed to a new alternative mobility to the car and, therefore, “we must promote the safety of the vulnerable on urban and interurban roads with campaigns such as Make yourself seen! “.
Representing the Mobility Platform of La Rioja, Ignacio Prieto has specified that every day the presence of vulnerable people on urban roads increases more and with this campaign it is intended to show in a clear and simple way the obligations and recommendations that will favor that they are seen and avoided, thus, the accident rate.
During the next few days and until the end of stock, it will be made available to the public, both at the headquarters of the DGT Headquarters (Av. Po XII, 17) and Infrastructures (c/ Marqus de Murrieta, 76), 100 Units with the vest kit and lights for those people who want to improve their road visibility.
