Together with Carlos Leon, Madonna has a daughter Lourdes (26), with her second husband Guy Ritchie she has Rocco (22). David (17), Mercy (16) and twins Estere and Stella (10) have been adopted by the pop star. A brood with six children sometimes plays tricks on the singer. “Today I still struggle to understand how to be a mom and do my job,” she tells Vanity Fair. “Because whoever you are, having and raising children is a work of art. And nobody gives you a manual. You have to learn from mistakes. It is a profession that takes a lot of time. And it is tiring because there is never any rest.”

But her greatest happiness undoubtedly comes from them. She thinks it’s great that each of them discovered their own creativity. “I never encouraged my daughter Lourdes to make music or my son Rocco to paint. But I’ve always exposed them to music and art, and I’m glad they found ways to express themselves. I have respect and admiration for them and for what they do.”
