Doctors could not help the actor.
Leonid Filatov for a long time managed to hide his addiction from fans and colleagues. The artist became addicted to the bottle as a student, for which he paid with his own health.
It was difficult to call a screen star an alcoholic. He drank so much that none of those around him even knew about it. The actor always looked dignified and was never seen in drunken brawls. But the consequences of addiction were not long in coming.
During one of the rehearsals, Filatov had a microstroke, but his colleagues did not even notice it. The director of the performance considered that the artist was dragging his leg and pretending to be short of breath in order to look as convincing as possible in his role.
“You’re overplaying!” – the director made a remark to the artist, not even suspecting what was really happening. Subsequently, Filatov’s kidneys failed. Doctors tried to help the celebrity, but all efforts were in vain. The actor passed away in autumn 2003 at the age of 57.
