Accidents have happened in several places in the country. The KNMI had already declared code yellow due to expected slipperiness.
Indeed, it is slippery in several places. In North Brabant and Limburg, among others, people woke up with a layer of snow of a few centimeters.
This also applies to Gelderland, as can be seen in this video on Twitter:
According to Rijkswaterstaat, 2.2 million kilos of salt have been sprinkled since last night. According to the KNMI, the slipperiness will disappear again at the end of the morning.

Already around 06:00 several incidents were reported on the highways. For example, on the A2 at the Ekkersweijer junction to the north of Eindhoven, a truck has jackknifed. As a result, two lanes are closed to the south.
On the other side of Eindhoven, a truck has also jacked up at the De Hogt junction in the direction of Maastricht because of the snow.
The morning rush hour is expected to be very busy, not only because of the slipperiness but also because of it the regional public transport strike. Trains and buses of regional companies such as Connexxion or Arriva may not run.
For many travelers, the strike means longer waiting times and travel times. Regional carriers therefore recommend leaving home earlier and keeping a close eye on the travel planner.
