Respiratory syncytial virus (or RSV) is a disease that produces symptoms similar to those of a cold –but that can be fatal for young children and older adults. In fact, annually and in the US alone, it causes about 14,000 deaths in adults 65 years of age or older.
The vaccine you are creating Modern managed, so far, to prevent at least two symptoms such as cough and fever, in adults of 60 years and over.
The disease reemerged in the United States and Europe this fall along with influenza and Covid-19, and has been dubbed by some as “tripledemia”.
There is currently no vaccine for the virus in adults. Moderna, Pfizer and GSK are racing to bring their RSV vaccines to market first. Moderna went ahead and will seek to submit its vaccine, mRNA-1345, for “regulatory approval” globally in the first half of 2023.
On the other hand, Pfizer and GSK, which filed for US regulatory approval late last year, didn’t even come close to matching their competitor’s numbers. The Pfizer vaccine, for example, has shown that it is effective only 66.7% against two or more symptoms in late-stage trials.

for your part, andThe president of the company, Stephen Hoge, said his vaccine appears to compare favorably with experimental shots from Pfizer and GSK. “It’s very exciting to see progress on RSV vaccines in older adults, and I think both vaccines have shown pretty remarkable results as well.”
“We really think we’re in that upper class: 84% is an excellent efficacy number,” Hoge added. It is estimated that the RSV vaccine market could be worth more than $10 billion globally.
