A source at the Ministry of Health and Population revealed that a new list of 10 analyzes has been approved as part of the medical examination procedures for those about to get married during the coming period.
The source explained to Masrawy that this list includes analyzes of infectious diseases such as “AIDS, virus C and virus B”, in addition to analyzes of non-communicable diseases such as “diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity.”
He pointed out that the list of analyzes also includes the level of hemoglobin in the blood, blood type, Rh compatibility analysis, and an analysis of Mediterranean anemia, Thalassemia, which will be necessary before the completion of the marriage contract, with the aim of preventing the birth of children with genetic diseases.
The source pointed out that 303 medical centers nationwide have been corrected to conduct these analyzes, provided that their number will be increased during the next stage.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has previously said that the new draft personal status law, which is being prepared by the Ministry of Justice and will be put forward for community dialogue soon, obliges those planning to get married to conduct health checks, and to establish a committee to review it, headed by a judge, to complete the contract or not.
President El-Sisi explained that the most important conditions for the marriage contract in the new law are; Conducting a medical examination for those about to get married before giving permission to the marriage official to document the marriage contract. This is done through a committee and with the approval of a judge who acknowledges the validity of these analyzes.
