The entrance of Anouar Ait El Hadj to the first team – in 2019 as a 17-year-old – was stormy, but the creative midfielder also quickly fell away again at Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht.
His flashes were rare, his advance was checked. Also under Felice Mazzu and Brian Riemer, the youth product barely or not at all appeared in the piece.
The native of Brussels has now ended up at Racing Genk. “With his combination of explosiveness and creativity, he is an ideal addition to the current attacking compartment,” said Genk.
“Anouar fits perfectly into RC Genk’s philosophy and personifies the attractive football we want to bring here. I look forward to adding him to the group,” says coach Wouter Vrancken.
“After Yira Sor, the arrival of Ait El Hadj is another important reinforcement that we can add to the current squad. Anouar is a choice both in the short and medium term.”
“In the first conversation it immediately became clear that he believed in the KRC Genk project and that he radiates a lot of enthusiasm to contribute to our successes this season and the coming seasons. We look forward to seeing him shine in our blue and white”, concludes Head of Football Dimitri de Condé.
“This is a very difficult decision,” said the midfielder. “I came to Anderlecht as a little boy and they turned me into a man here. All the coaches, the staff, all the players…”
“I am so grateful to Anderlecht for everything it has given me. Anderlecht is the club of my heart. But I think now is the best choice to start a new challenge in a different environment.”
