He built a business where predominantly teenage girls worked, without a work permit. He convinced some of the underage employees to have sex or even move in with him, several young women said. The girls came from disadvantaged backgrounds with absent parents.
Surrounded by teenage girls and young women dependent on him, Alexandru Marcu (45 years old today) formed what some interviewees called a “sect”. He required them to remain the only man in their lives once they lost their virginity to him, the girls reported.
Liberty has found, so far, 8 victims. Seven of them were minors when they had sex with Marcu, according to the testimonies.
