The president of the Governing Council of the Municipal Board of Rojas, Teo García, has invited all Toledan men and women to join the closing gala of the 30th anniversary of the Classical Theater Show ‘Toledo Siglo de Oro’ that will take place in the coliseum Toledo next Saturday, January 21 at 8:00 p.m.
As Teo García has explained, the gala will be “an authentic baroque party” that will be carried out by the Spanish company Morfeo Teatro, recognized for the uniqueness of its proposals and its desire to adapt or rescue unusual pieces in both the classical repertoire as a contemporary, assuming a provocative sense of staging and a marked closeness to the viewer.
In this case, the production by the Morfeo company will focus on fragments of different theatrical, poetic, musical or dance works from the Golden Age. A closing act that will feature an exceptional presenter, actress María José Goyanes, winner of the Award for Best Female Performance at the 30th edition of the Rojas Awards for her performance in the play ‘Galdós Enamorado’.
Like the rest of the activities that the Municipal Theater of Rojas has carried out on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its longest running cycle, this closing gala will be free for spectators until full capacity is reached. Of course, the localities will have to retire previously at the theater box office at their usual time.
More proposals
It was in the month of May when the City Council carried out the first proposal for the program of commemorative activities with the presentation, by the mayoress Milagros Tolón, of the book ‘Teatro de Rojas, 30 years on stage’ that reviews the future of the coliseum Toledo since its reopening in 1989.
An appointment that received broad support from Toledo society and which also included the dissertation ‘Toledo y el teatro’ by the professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Castilla-La Mancha and director of the Almagro Classical Theater Institute , Felipe Blas Pedraza, to later start a discussion between the authors of the publication, present at the event.
Bring theater closer to the public
Taking the theater of the Golden Age to the streets and bringing it closer to the public was another of the objectives set in the celebration of this 30th anniversary. And so the itinerant theater proposal ‘Toledo Siglo de Oro, the fun trip’ was fulfilled, which toured the streets and squares of the Historic Center of Toledo and was joined by hundreds of people.
This initiative simulated the arrival of comedians in the city with their belongings and belongings through little-known texts by authors from Toledo or those related to Toledo from a perspective that integrates the stage proposal but also the personal one, to illustrate the origins of this beautiful profession. In our country.
The presentation of the book ‘La famosa toledana’ by Juan de Quirós, in the Cafetín del Teatro de Rojas; various workshops for performing arts professionals such as verse or masks or the national premiere of ‘El Hospital de los locos’ by the Toledo playwright José de Valdivielso by the company Fundación Siglo de Oro have been other of the activities of this ephemeris.
