All the unions are calling for mobilization against the pension reform project, this Thursday, January 19. Eleven demonstrations against the postponement of the retirement age to 64 and the extension of the contribution period are planned in the major cities of the former Languedoc-Roussillon region. We take stock in this article.

Thursday, January 19 is likely to be a black day for all those who go to work: poFor the first time in thirteen years, the representatives of the eight main organizations are calling, all together, for mobilization and a strike against the pension reform project.

It is the transport sector that should be the most disrupted this Thursday, January 19. At the SNCF, the four federations of railway workers are calling for a “powerful strike”. Ditto at the RATP, where the unions announce “a zero transport day.”

In schools, class closures promise to be massive in primary and secondary schools. The main National Education unions have filed a strike notice and are also calling to join the movement.

The energy, health, banking, civil service and public theaters sectors are also concerned.

In the department of Hérault, the eight main unions and the SCUM, the majority student union at the university of Montpellier, are calling for a strike and have organized three processions to say no to this “unjust and brutal reform”:

  • Béziers: departure at 10:30 a.m. in front of the labor exchange,
  • Sète: departure at 10.30 am in front of the town hall square,
  • Montpellier: departure at 11 am in front of the Hotel de la Métropole, place Zeus.

In the Gard, it is the towns located in the north of the department that will open the ball:

  • Alès: 10 a.m. in front of the sub-prefecture,
  • Le Vigan: 10 a.m. in front of the town hall,
  • Bagnols-sur-Cèze: 10:30 a.m. at the war memorial,
  • Nîmes: 2:30 p.m. on the Place dubull.

Among the Audois, two events are planned in the two main cities of the department, as indicated by the local CGT on its page Facebook .

  • Narbonne: 2:30 p.m. at the labor exchange,
  • Carcassonne: 2:30 p.m. at the Portail des Jacobins.

Finally, two other events are announced in the main Catalan and Lozère towns:

  • Perpignan: 10:30 a.m. on Place de Catalunya,
  • Mende: 10:30 a.m. on the Place du Foirail.
