Very soon, it will be a year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Reacting to this and showing their support for Ukraine, companies at that time left the Russian market one after another. At the same time, it has already been heard that in the meantime, some companies that initially expressed solidarity with Ukraine are quietly resuming operations in Russia. In connection with this, several reports indicate that the companies “Intel” and “Microsoft” are gradually resuming their operations in Russia and providing basic support for their services without excessive noise.
According to the sanctions imposed by Europe, Great Britain and the USA, Intel and Microsoft are prohibited from selling any new solutions and technologies in Russia. As a result, companies have also had to ban Russian residents from downloading official software. At the same time, “Intel” has announced that the company is obliged to provide guarantees and the necessary software download services, which, however, are included in the purchase of an “Intel” product. The company itself emphasizes that it continues to comply with all regulations, operates in accordance with the sanctions and has not made any changes to its operations in Russia recently. However, separate reports indicate that the ability to download official software updates was launched by Intel in Russia only at the end of 2022.
Meanwhile, other reports indicate that Microsoft has also quietly resumed operations in Russia. The company is again offering Windows 11 updates to customers in Russia, for example. “Microsoft” explains that it has stopped the sale of all new products and services in Russia on the basis of sanctions. However, software updates are not exactly a new product and are said to count as an upgrade to a previously purchased purchase.
