Former vocalist of Yovie and Nuno, Pradikta Wicaksono or who is familiarly called Dikta, is suspected of having experienced sexual harassment. After entertaining the audience at Sarinah, Central Jakarta, a fan allegedly squeezed Dikta’s genitals until he was in pain.
The TikTok account @firafrt recorded a moment of Dikta who was seen walking in pain while holding his genitals. Dikta stopped, then crouched down in pain. The video was re-shared on Twitter by the account @Ohohmaribros and became a topic of conversation among netizens.
“This is a clearer version, I’m really sorry for the lato, bro, it’s really painful like that… It’s really barbaric nowadays,” tweeted the account owner @Ohohmaribros.
The video has been watched 2.4 million times on TikTok and 309 thousand times on Twitter. Twitter users also cheered on the video. Most of them were angry because the attitude of the fans was considered too much to lead to sexual harassment.
“Even though if you get the chance to hold her hand, you can hold her attractive hand, but how come people can actually hold her ***?!?!?!” wrote the account @CottownCandy.
“I don’t know why I already thought that there would be an incident like this in a dictatorial way, there are so many likes and on TikTok there are already a lot of vt fans who seem to be really obsessed. It’s really scary,” the account owner @imvibbyy replied.
Quoted from the Sonke Gender Justice page, sexual harassment is divided into 3 forms, namely physical harassment, verbal harassment, and nonverbal harassment.
1. Physical abuse
This form of harassment is carried out through touching or physical contact that is not wanted or approved by the victim. Examples of physical abuse include circling shoulders, placing hands on thighs or other body parts, or deliberately standing near the victim after being told to stay away. Quoted from the old D’Amore Law Group, touching such as patting, grabbing, rubbing, pinching, and kissing also includes physical abuse.
2. Verbal abuse
Verbal harassment is carried out through sexually charged words. Examples of verbal abuse include cat-calling or whistling to strangers, teasing or making sexually suggestive jokes, asking about someone’s sex life, and asking friends or co-workers for sexual favors.
3. Nonverbal harassment
This form of harassment is carried out through the gestures of the perpetrator towards the victim. Examples of nonverbal harassment are looking someone up and down making them feel uncomfortable, deliberately blocking someone’s way, flashing, showing or sharing sexually explicit images/objects, blowing kisses, and stalking.
Quoted from NBC News, clinical psychologist Dr. Colleen Cullen said sexual harassment was a common cause of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). According to clinical psychologist Dr. Helen Wilson, 90 percent of women who experience sexual violence show symptoms of acute stress. Then, psychologist Dr. Nekeshia Hammond explained that sexual harassment can cause the body to experience trauma and make it difficult for the victim to deal with it
“We call it somatization. Mental health becomes so overwhelming that a person can’t process it to the point of saying ‘I’ve been traumatized’ or ‘I’m depressed.’ Basically, it’s a kind of long-standing denial that can turn into physical symptoms,” says Dr. Hammond.
