The number of people vaccinated with the second booster dose against covid has tripled in the last week, in which 7,500 prophylaxis have been administered. Currently, more than 312,000 people in Asturias have this protection, as reported by the Government of the Principality.
To facilitate access to the vaccine, the Principality Health Service (Sespa) has increased the schedules in order to offer more days and hours within the self-appointment system.

It can also be completed on the telephone line 984 100 400, which is operational from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
FLU CAMPAIGN
On the other hand, regarding the flu campaign, Sespa has already reached the objective of vaccinating 75% of people aged 65 and over, for whom this prophylaxis is indicated. This percentage already exceeds the figures of last season. Specifically, in this age group, 201,272 people have received protection against the virus.
Regarding the age group from 15 to 64 years, the vaccine was administered to 81,335 citizens. Similarly, the appropriate dose has been applied to 8,583 children of pediatric age.
Sespa has extended the flu vaccination campaign until January 31st. People who wish to receive prophylaxis can call their health center to request it.
The flu vaccine is indicated for people over 65 years of age, immunosuppressed people, with chronic diseases or obesity; pregnant women who present a higher risk of complications and patients with arterial hypertension.
It is also recommended for those who live with people at high risk, staff at health centers, geriatric institutions or care centers for people with chronic illness, as well as those who work in essential public services.
Health authorities recall that annual influenza vaccination is the best strategy for preventing influenza and its complications.
