Microsoft to release ‘Surface Laptop SE 2’ with Intel Elder Lake N

It is known that Microsoft (MS) is preparing to release a successor model of the low-end educational notebook PC ‘Surface Laptop SE’.

On the 16th, Jack Borden, who is familiar with the internal news of Microsoft, said on Twitter, “I have received news that the Surface Laptop SE 2 model with Intel’s new Elder Lake N processor will be released.”

The Elder Lake N processor, which Intel unveiled at CES 2023 held in Las Vegas, USA earlier this month, features only E-cores for ultra-low power systems. Spotted on Geekbench last month, the Intel N95 processor offers four E-cores, four threads, and runs at a maximum clock of 2.8 GHz. It is known to provide better performance than Intel’s existing Celeron 7305 processor.

Meanwhile, the ‘Surface Laptop SE’, released by MS for $250 in November 2021, is powered by the Windows 11 SE operating system (OS) designed for the K-8 education market and low-cost hardware. An 11.6-inch TFT display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1366×768 (135ppi) is equipped with Intel Celeron N4120 and N4020 processors.

The RAM capacity is 4GB/8GB and non-expandable 64GB eMMC/64GB eMMC storage is provided. In addition, it does not provide biometric authentication, and comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2×2), Bluetooth 5.0 LE, one USB-A port, one USB-C port, and a battery that can be used for up to 16 hours.
