Former Kadiv Propam Polri Freddy Sambo sentenced to life imprisonment. Sambo is believed by the prosecutor together with other defendants to have premeditated the murder of Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat and damaged electronic evidence related to Yosua’s murder.
“Demands that the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court who examined and tried this case decide to declare the defendant Freddy Sambo proven guilty of doing it intentionally and with prior planning to take other people’s lives,” said the prosecutor when reading out the charges at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (17/1/2023).
“Send a sentence against Ferdy Sambo with life imprisonment,” he added.
Sambo is believed by the prosecutor to have violated Article 340 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 1st of the Criminal Code. Sambo is also believed to have violated Article 49 in conjunction with Article 33 of Law No. 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.
The prosecutor considered that there was no reason to forgive or justify Sambo’s actions. The prosecutor stated that Sambo must be held accountable for his actions.
“Defendant Ferdy Sambo can be held criminally responsible,” said the prosecutor.
The thing that incriminated Sambo was that he killed Yosua, convoluted and did not admit his actions and actions had tarnished the Polri institution to the point where many members of the POLRI were involved. There are no mitigating circumstances, said the prosecutor.
Ferdy Sambo Charged with Premeditated Murder
Freddy Sambo was charged with premeditated murder against Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat. This act was carried out together with Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu, Putri Candrawathi, Ricky Rizal Wibowo, and Strong Ma’ruf.
“Those who did it, ordered it to be done, and took part in the act, deliberately and with prior planning took the lives of other people,” said the prosecutor while reading out the indictment in the trial at the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel), Monday (17/ 10).
Ferdy Sambo was tried under Article 340 of the Criminal Code subsidiary to Article 338 of the Criminal Code juncto Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.
Ferdy Sambo was also charged with obstructing the investigation into the Yosua murder case. Ferdy Sambo was charged with article 49 in conjunction with article 33 of Law No. 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions in conjunction with article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.
