4:2! Salzburg wins derby revenge after shaking victory

Kanamitsu celebrates three wins
Sparkasse Salzburg celebrated the revenge for the fall defeat with a trembling victory against Kuchl. The man of the evening, Koyo Kanamitsu, had to be in the decider twice in his three successes, but after the opening win against Adrian Dillon, the doubles with Michael Trink also won the tie break. The Japanese then won the hit of the day against Istvan Molnar 3-1 and laid the foundation for success. In the end, Francisco Sanchi sealed the deal after 194 minutes with a 3-0 win over Adrian Dillon. Molnar and Tilen Cvetko remained successful for Kuchl. Nevertheless, the Tennengauer could not avoid the seventh defeat in the eighth game and thus still have a firm grip on the red lantern. “It’s a shame, because Dillon had another chance to beat Kanamitsu. The doubles could have won too,” said Kuchl’s sports director Peter Eckel, mourning the big points. Salzburg, on the other hand, is in the top four of the league with six wins in all competitions and a narrow 2:3 defeat in the cup final. Chairman Günther Höllbacher even dreams of the title.

Wr. Neustadt takes the lead
As the leader of the win2day Bundesliga – with one game more than Winterkönig Felbermayr Wels – Wr. Neustadt in the Europe Cup quarter-final first leg on January 22 (3 p.m.) against Dzialdowo/Poland. In the 4-1 win against Baden, Frane Kojic shone with three 3-0 wins and laid the foundation for the derby victory. In addition to the two singles, the Croatian also won the doubles with compatriot Ivor Ban, who in turn provided the fourth score. Julian Rzihauschek celebrated his Bundesliga debut, but had to learn the hard way against Baden’s No. 1 Patrik Juhasz with a 3-0 defeat. Baden gets stuck on the relegation place due to this 1:4.

SPG Linz is on course for the semi-finals
After the 4:2 in autumn, SPG Linz was able to beat Raiffeisen Kennelbach 4:1 this time. Youssef Abdelaziz again won the decisive top game against Simon Pfeffer – this time 3-1. The Egyptian had previously beaten Miroslav Sklensky (3-0) and in doubles with Soumyajit Ghosh against Istvan Toth/Pfeffer 3-1. The Indian Ghosh scored the fourth Linz point with a 3-0 win over Toth. Pfeffer got the Vorarlberg honor point with a 6-2 win in the decider against Linz newcomer Anthony Arputharay. The complete success against play-off rival Kennelbach is worth its weight in gold for Linz on the way to the semi-finals.

Two qualifying defeats at the WTT Contender in Doha

After victories over Ahmed Saadawi (Qatar/3:0) and Alberto Mino (Ecuador/3:1), David Serdaroglu reached the semi-finals of the qualification of the WTT Contenders in Doha/Qatar, but lost 1:3 to Lam Siu Hang (HKG). Amelie Solja failed in the second qualifying round.
