In the last three years, the cases of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) in Guanajuato tripled, since in 2020 1,442 were reported, while last year it closed with 4,268. Thus, in 2022 we carried out 32,485 HPV tests. Human Papillomavirus in women.
The Human Papilloma Virus is a sexually transmitted infection, whose symptoms are itching and the appearance of warts on the genitals or on the skin around this area, which can be small, large or cauliflower-shaped.
This virus is transmitted through sexual relations and there are at least more than 150 types of papilloma virus that affect humans, many of them are highly contagious and affect specific areas.
The Guanajuato Health System adds the application of 75 thousand vaccines for adolescents, in order to protect them against the Human Papilloma Virus in 2022. In coordination with the Ministry of Education, we have worked with the application of the HPV vaccine in high schools in all municipalities, with a goal of 1,628 schools to visit and 113,862 doses to be applied to 13- and 14-year-old girls.
We invite all parents who have not yet vaccinated their minor daughters to request it at the nearest health units during this season so that they can be vaccinated.
The reduction of vaccine-preventable diseases and their eventual control requires guaranteeing the population’s access to vaccination services.
The universal HPV vaccination program began on November 21, 2022 by the federation at the national level and aims to vaccinate the following risk group:
– Girls who are in the first grade of secondary school or 13 years old without schooling.
– Girls who are in the second grade of secondary school or who are 14 years old without schooling.
– And women living with HIV/AIDS.
It is a priority that these vaccines continue to arrive from the federation to reduce the risk of women developing a serious disease or cervical cancer. Always having a vaccine available helps prevent severe forms from developing, it is clear that more should be invested in the issue of vaccines in general in Mexico.
