Rose water has many uses in household chores. In the following lines, the easy way to make rose water at home, bearing in mind that the smell of the latter is distinctive, and it contributes to the fragrance of the house, i.e. the different surfaces in it and the atmosphere, as well as clothes.
The easy way to make rose water at home
Here are the easy steps followed in preparing rose water at home:
1 Separate the freshly cut flower petals from the stems, for the purpose of filling one cup, knowing that half a cup is also sufficient, if using dry flower petals. Then, wash the fresh petals with tap water to get rid of any dirt or insects.
2 Add the petals to a saucepan, cover with water (about a cup of it), and heat over the low heat of the stove. When the mixture begins to boil, cover the pot, reduce heat, and wait 15 to 30 minutes or until you notice the petals have lost their color and the latter have turned pale. Then, the stove heat is turned off, with the pot lid opened, until the mixture cools.
3 Use a strainer (or muslin cloth) to separate the petals from the water.
4 After getting rid of the petals, the resulting water is poured into a bottle equipped with a sprayer, knowing that it is preferable to keep the bottle in the refrigerator. Blossom water kept inside the refrigerator will remain valid for up to a month.
Perfume the house and clothes using rose water
Blossom water is used to spray on the various surfaces of the house (after cleaning), for the purpose of perfuming
Perfume the clothes when ironing: The water tank of the iron is filled with rose water, instead of tap water, which easily perfumes the clothes. To perfume the clothes, fill the tank of the iron with rose water instead of tap water
Perfume the components of the house: Fill a bottle with a sprayer with rose water, which is used to spray on bed sheets, curtains, soft furniture and various surfaces of the house (after cleaning), for the purpose of perfuming.
Air freshening: Blossom water is sprayed from a spray bottle in the different rooms of the house to improve the smell of the air.
Cleaning the bathroom surfaces: After cleaning the bathroom, it is correct to make a homemade solution of rose water diluted with water, and spray it on the various surfaces to spread a distinctive fragrant scent within the aforementioned space.
Get rid of the bad smell of the refrigerator: Fill a bottle with a sprayer, with rose water diluted with plain water, to use the solution to spray inside the refrigerator, after cleaning it. However, the refrigerator must be kept open for a period of time, after spraying the solution, as it is not correct to distribute different foods directly inside the device.
