India sent a cruise ship on the longest river cruise, it will last 51 days

The ship, named MV Ganga Vilas, was also escorted on Friday by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 32 tourists from Switzerland are on board during the first voyage, and it can accommodate a total of 36 guests. The 62-meter-long vessel offers comfortable cabins, massage salon services or first-class gastronomy. But only vegetarian meals and no alcohol are served on board.

The biggest attraction is the cultural and natural monuments, where the ship comfortably transports passengers. The cruise begins on the Ganges River in the holy Hindu city of Varanasi, from where it continues via the city of Patna for 20 days to Kolkata and then through the Bangladeshi mangroves to Dhaka and on to Assam. It has stops in national parks, but also near Buddhist monasteries, palaces and shrines.

“Our intention was to create a cruise that connects two great rivers: the Ganges and the Brahmaputra through the (mangrove) Sundarbans so that guests can see places that are not so well known,” said Raj Singh, head of Antara River Cruises, which operates.

Although a one-day cruise costs between 280 and 566 euros (6,700 to 14,000 CZK) per person, the operator reports that it is sold out for two years in advance.
