Until the end of the season
Runner-up Sturm Graz has strengthened with goalie Arthur Okonkwo. The 21-year-old Englishman comes to Styria on loan from Arsenal FC until the end of the season. Before he was loaned to Graz, Okonkwo was on loan in his home country at fourth-tier Crewe Alexandra, for whom he made 23 appearances in League Two. He has never been used for the pros at Arsenal.
Managing Director Sport Andreas Schicker said of the loan: “Both Arsenal and Arthur himself have clearly signaled to us that the move to Sturm Graz is exactly the right step for everyone involved. Arthur is a young, hungry player and fits our profile perfectly – he will help us achieve our goals. With Arthur, we’ve broadened our team of goalkeepers and I’m confident that we’re excellently equipped for the tasks ahead. I would also like to thank Arsenal for the excellent exchange – we are happy that the move went so quickly and that Arthur will be on board from the training camp in Turkey.”
