Before Expulsion –
Armed attackers burn alive a Catholic priest in Nigeria. Besides that, the perpetrators too kidnap five worshipers in two separate attacks in central Nigeria and northwestern Nigeria.
As reported by AFP, Monday (16/1/2023), the attack occurred at around 02.00 local time in the village of Kafin-Koro in the state of Nigeria. Perpetrators known locally as bandits set fire to the residence of a priest and burned him alive.
Nigerian police said the thugs set fire to Pastor Isaac Achi’s house after failing to access the house.
“Unfortunately, the bandits set fire to the house, while the priest was burnt to death,” said police spokesman in Niger state, Wasiu Biodun.
The bandits shot and wounded another priest identified as Father Collins when he tried to flee, he added.
“The lifeless body of Pastor Isaac was found, while Pastor Collins was rushed to the hospital for treatment,” continued Biodun
In separate attacks hours later, the assailants also raided a Christian home in Dan Tsauni village in Katsina state’s Kankara district. They kidnapped five people while they were preparing for Sunday mass at a nearby church.
“The bandits seized five people from the house, shot a priest in the hand and fled with five hostages,” state police spokesman Gambo Isa told AFP.
“The priest was taken to the hospital for treatment,” Isa continued.
