The year 2022 is the second hottest year in Europe, according to the latest annual report from the European climate change program Copernicus.
Temperature records in summer in Europe
The year just ended was ranked as the ‘2nd hottest’ in Europe, according to the latest annual report of the European climate change program Copernicus (C3S). The European continent recorded a record in terms of temperatures during the summer months. France, Great Britain, Spain and Portugal were the most affected.
The last 8 years are the hottest
This report also notes a new annual record recorded “parts of the Middle East, Central Asia and China, New Zealand, North Africa and the Horn of Africa”. “The past eight years have been the hottest on record in the world“, reveals this report.
These are the devastating consequences of global warming
Samantha Burgess, deputy head of C3S, warns that the world is suffering “already the devastating consequences of global warming“. She suggests to “urgently reduce carbon emissions and rapidly adapt to a changing climate“.
