Chelsea announced today, Sunday, the signing of Mykhailo Modric, in its fifth deal in the current winter transfer window, after the Ukrainian winger completed his transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Financial details were not disclosed, while British reports stated that Chelsea kidnapped the 22-year-old player for 100 million euros ($ 108 million), including 30 million euros in additions, despite attempts by arch-rivals Arsenal to include him.
“This is a great club and a great league, and this is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my life,” Modric said in a statement.
“I am excited to meet my new team-mates, and look forward to working and learning from coach Graham Potter and the rest of his staff.”
