The Romanian authorities have seized money and property worth 3.6 million euros in the criminal investigation into British influencer and former kickboxer Andrew Tate, Reuters news agency reports. Tate was arrested in Romania on December 29 on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and participation in organized crime.
Among the goods seized are expensive vehicles and watches.
The 36-year-old influencer was arrested near Bucharest at the end of last year, together with his brother and two other suspects. A Romanian court ruled a day later that he had to remain detained for at least thirty days. Tate appealed, but a judge in Bucharest overruled his objection.
Tate has been repeatedly criticized for his statements about women in the past. For example, he called himself a misogynist, said that women belong to men and that they are partly responsible for rapes.
Tate was removed from Facebook and Instagram last summer, among other things. He was already banned from Twitter in 2017, after tweets about the American film producer Harvey Weinstein, who was convicted of sexual abuse. After the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk, Tate returned to that platform in November.
