The Surabaya District Court (PN) limited the number of visitors and banned the media from broadcasting the trial live Trial Tragedy. The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md opened his voice regarding the ban.
“That is the judge’s authority to determine whether it is open or closed,” said Mahfud at the Grahadi State Building in Surabaya after becoming a guest speaker at the national dialogue program, as reported by Antara. detikJatimSunday (15/1/2023).
Mahfud, who is also the Head of the Joint Independent Fact Finding Team (TGIPF) for the Kanjuruhan Tragedy, said that the trial was open to the public and could be watched live. As long as, said Mahfud, the visitors are orderly.
“Yes there are rules, if watch trial yes. The meeting is open to the public, the important thing is orderly and safe,” he stressed.
Mahfud then asked the media crew to ask the court why the trial of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy was banned from broadcasting live. Because he has no authority.
“Ask the court, if I decide not allowed,” he said.
