Russia claims to have captured Solidar City; Captured by Putin’s ‘own army’ – Russia | Ukraine Soledar World News

Kyiv ∙ Russia has captured the city of Solidar in Ukraine. This will facilitate the advance towards the strategic city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine. The victory in Solidar is a relief for Russia, which has faced continuous setbacks in Ukraine recently. Solidar is a small town located in the middle of the Donbass region, with many salt fields.

Before the war, the population was only 10,000. Although the capture of Solidar was not decisive, Russia’s relief was that it would ease the advance on the strategic nearby city of Bahmut. There has been heavy fighting between the Russian and Ukrainian armies in Bakhmut for days.

The advance in Solidar is a relief for Russia, which has suffered a series of setbacks since last July. Solidar was captured by the Wagner Group, a private paramilitary group directly controlled by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ukraine denied Russia’s claim. Ukraine claimed that troops were still in Solidar.
