Ford struck a chord when they launched an electric Mustang – in the form of the Mustang Mach-E SUV. In Norway, there are now thousands of these on the roads.
That electrification is important to Ford became obvious when they lent their strongest brand to the first “proper” electric car (we hope the Focus Electric won’t be too offended that we skip it here).
But for now, the original Mustang, i.e. the sports car, is only available with a petrol engine.
Unless you go for the car you see pictures of here, of course.
British
The British car manufacturer Charge Cars has taken the iconic design of the 1967 model of the Ford Mustang as its starting point.
You can only look at the pictures and the video – this is simply delicious!
Not only that, you get a real kick out of it, too. And four-wheel drive!
This is Norway’s car, as good as any…
It’s the end of the Ford Mustang in Norway – that’s how cheap you can get it used
Animals
We got a closer look at the car at the motor show in Los Angeles last autumn. And with matt blue paint and bright leather interior, this is a car that many others were interested in taking a closer look at, too.
The plan is for it to be launched in the second quarter of this year.
But only 499 copies will be produced. And the price is around NOK 4.5 million. With the new taxes on electric cars in Norway, it will also be significantly more expensive than before, on Norwegian plates. Thus, it is not only the number of copies produced that sets limitations.
Some barn finds are more exciting than others
Men …
The four electric motors offer 536 horsepower – and will ensure 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. So it lives up to the performance you expect from an American sports car.
What we are not impressed with is the range. We are told that it is 320 kilometers.
The fast charging is also nothing to shout about. The battery pack of 63 kWh can only receive up to 50 kWh.
We first encountered it in Germany: Should be sold with a warning!
New on the inside
Otherwise, the retro look is not as clear on the inside as it is on the outside. Here, the dashboard is dominated by a large, vertical infortainment screen. In front of the steering wheel there are digital instruments and in the center console buttons that allow you to put the car in gear.
But if you swear by the classic model, with a petrol engine, there are currently two 1967-model Mustangs for sale on the second-hand market in Norway.
Here the price is also far more affordable: NOK 350,000 – 380,000.
