Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Public interest in electrified vehicles is very high at the moment, including the demand for the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid. However, consumers who are interested must be willing to wait until the middle of this year to be able to get the unit.
“Type V is more or less waiting for 4-5 months around April-May, estimates now, but if there is stock, it will be informed again in the next 1-2 months. There have been a lot of queues since the end of the year, it will definitely be a scramble,” said the Toyota salesperson to CNBC Indonesia, quoted on Saturday (14/1/2023).
The price of the Innova Zenix Hybrid type V HV CVT Modellista (Non Premium Color) is currently priced at IDR 532,000,000 and is the middle type. Meanwhile, the highest type, the Kijang Innova Zenix 2.0 Q HV CVT TSS Modellista (Non Premium Color), has a longer pivot period. The official price tag for this type of car is IDR 611,000,000.
“Type Q takes longer, only around June-July because production is less than type V,” said the Toyota salesperson.
He explained, the length of the Innova Zenix Hybrid pivot was due to a change in the production schedule from the beginning. Consumer demand should be fulfilled faster than the proper schedule.
“Yesterday the January-February plan was released, it turned out that production was delayed and it was less than we expected at dealers and there was quite a lot of interest so it was delayed,” he said.
In order to maintain interest, dealers offer a 20% down payment promo.
Apart from the Innova Zenix Hybrid, another electrified car, namely the Hyudai Ioniq 5, is also experiencing a pivot to meet consumer needs. It is acknowledged that the semiconductor chip crisis is still a production constraint for automotive manufacturers.
Due to a semiconductor chip problem, the Ioniq 5 pivot could last up to 15 months in 2022. But slowly it can be faster because manufacturers in RI have direct guarantees from principals in South Korea to get more supply of semiconductor chips this year.
“If last year’s pivot was more than 12 months, this year we will accelerate it to 8 months,” said Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motors Indonesia (COO HMID) Makmur.
