DHF Cases in Bima City Increase, Three People Die

BIMA CITY– Cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Bima City are increasing. As of Friday (13/1), three people have died.

The Bima City Health Office (Dikes) said that the total cases reached 46 people, and were dominated by children. The Secretary of the Health Office of the City of Bima Syarifuddin detailed that DHF cases were spread in four sub-districts. There were 18 cases in Asakota sub-district, West Rasanae 10 cases, Mpunda 10 cases, and Raba eight cases.

“The three people who died came from the western region of Bima City,” he said yesterday.

Apart from dengue cases, the city of Bima is also being hit by cases of Chikungunya. The number of cases is on the rise. Until yesterday, there were 75 cases recorded.

“The intermediary is the same, the Aedes aegypti mosquito. It is very important to protect the environment, so that it does not become a breeding ground for mosquitoes,” he explained.

Several cases of death that occurred in children who were infected with DHF, on average, required large amounts of blood donors.

”DHF patients need blood plasma, due to bleeding in the blood vessels,” he said.

Syarifuddin asked the public to quickly deal with children who have symptoms of dengue fever. “If you have a high fever, immediately go to the hospital or puskesmas, check your blood. Don’t forget to give lots of water. Sometimes, due to late treatment, the patient dies,” he said. (man/r8)
