The ‘Most Dangerous Elephant’ Has Killed 13 People and Three Other Elephants in Its Life

Erabaru.net. The ‘most dangerous elephant’ in the world is much more dangerous than you might imagine from the name alone.

Thechikkottukavu Ramachandran, who was born in 1964, is actually so dangerous that it is believed he has killed at least 13 people in his nearly 60 years on the planet – as well as three other elephants.

The animal is owned by a temple in India and apart from being dubbed the world’s most dangerous captive elephant, it is also the country’s tallest captive elephant, standing at 320 cm, as reported by the India Times.

Thechikkottukavu has appeared at a number of festivals over the years, but appearances have occasionally been cancelled, and we can only assume this is due to its terrifying nature.

That, and the fact that he is also partially blind.

The elephant has become a topic of discussion on Reddit today (6/1) after footage of the animal in front of a cheering crowd was shared.

The hideous elephant, which really has to be seen to be believed, has gone unnoticed on the website and has sparked quite a bit of discussion.

In response to footage of the elephant, which can be seen wearing a head covering, one Redditor wrote: “Now I understand why the ancients made building doors so high.”

Another user pointed out that given the animal’s kill record, they didn’t want to see it as part of the cheering crowd.

They wrote: “With stats like that I wouldn’t want to be in front of him especially in a crowd causing noise which might upset him.”

This prompted another Redditor to take note: “15 implies she doesn’t go wild in a crowd. The number will rise rapidly if he does.”

A third Redditor claims: “Ramachandran started seeing anyone who approached dangerously after visions [nya] start failing. He pushes people away physically out of fear, death happens because of that.”

Meanwhile, those who claim to regularly visit the area reveal that the animal is a ‘temple elephant’ used in religious rituals.

“Some of the larger temples have herds of such elephants, and they are generally better cared for than other ‘working’ elephants in India,” they say.

“The shrine provides a guard staff who takes care of their every need. They are well fed, bathed regularly, have a vet on call and generally (at least from a human perspective) live a pampered life.”

“IMO the death was most likely accidental, maybe because in the frenzy of religion they forgot that these gentle giants can be dangerous just by being so big and can squash people like flies [sic].”

As reported by the BBC, when Thechikkottukavu killed two people at a festival in 2019, the use of elephants for that purpose was banned, but the ban was later lifted due to protests.(yn)
