Both sides, according to Ukrainian military Petro “Stone” Voloshchenko, are mired in street fighting. Invaders like to take a farewell selfie in the city – take a picture and die.
The city of Soledar in the Donetsk region, for which there are fierce battles, by the evening of January 13 is not under the control of either side. About it live on the Freedom TV channel said APU fighter Petr “Stone” Voloshchenko.
“The city is not under the control of any PMCs or Russian groups. There are urban battles in which both sides are stuck. There is no advantage on either side,” he described the situation.
The Ukrainian military coordinates the work of pilots well with artillery and Western precision weapons.
“They (the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) come in, take pictures. We call this a farewell selfie. And after that they die. And this happens regularly. They take these photos very often,” Voloshchenko informed.
Russian mercenaries captured a certain part of Soledar, but this part is under the constant supervision of aerial reconnaissance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian military is coordinating pinpoint strikes at the enemy’s concentration area, Stone continued.
The “Wagner group” fell into a trap, as the city turned out to be inconvenient for them – they cannot bring up heavy equipment and work with long-range artillery. There are counter-battery and artillery duels, the military man added.
As soon as the Russians enter in small groups and begin to deploy, the coordinates are transmitted and the defeat takes place. Urban battles in such conditions are extremely inconvenient for the enemy.
The RF Armed Forces are suffering colossal losses in the city and nothing will be decided in the coming days, he says.
“Houses are passing from one hand to another. In some areas, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are counterattacking. The weather has improved, it has become warmer, reinforcements have arrived,” Stone concluded.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the evening report for January 13 reported that battles for Soledar were continuing in the Bakhmut direction.
Recall that on the morning of January 13, CNN reported on finding Ukrainian paratroopers from the 77th and 46th brigades in the Soledar area. Their morale is high.
Platoon commander of the 2nd Assault Company of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign Robert Brovdie also denied the data of the Russians about the capture of Soledar.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on January 13 about the complete capture of Soledar. According to the invaders, the city completely came under their control on the evening of January 12.
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak compared the battles for Soledar with the Battle of Verdunthe bloodiest battle in the First World War.
