The 2022-23 season is certain to end early for Donny van de Beek. Midfielder’s knee injury Manchester United the Dutch origin kept him out of action until the end of the season.
This has been confirmed by the MU manager, Erik ten Hag on Friday (13/1/2023). Van de Beek received this injury in the match against Bournemouth on January 3 after a clash with Marcos Senesi.
The signal that his injury was serious was visible from the moment he limped off the field. Sure enough, he also had to pull over for a long time.

“The problem is in his knee. In the long term, the situation looks good. He will return in pre-season. For the rest of the season, he can’t play anymore,” said Ten Hag, quoted by ESPN.
“We sympathize with him. It’s bad when you’re in the middle of last season to have a bad tackle, a serious injury. It’s always disappointing and we sympathize with what happened to him.”
“We are happy to know his knee, in the long term, will be fine. But at the same time, it is a mixed feeling and disappointed to know he is out until the end of the season,” explained Ten Hag.
Since being purchased from Ajax Amsterdam for 40 million Pounds in the summer of 2020, Van de Beek has indeed not brought out his best potential at MU. The 25-year-old player was loaned to Everton in the middle of last season.
When Ten Hag, who used to coach him, came to Old Trafford, Van de Beek’s fortunes did not necessarily change. This season, he has only appeared 10 times in all competitions, four of which have become starters. He was not brought by the Dutch national team to the 2022 World Cup.
